Around 30 kiwis are diagnosed with pre-diabetes EVERY day! Let's get the message out there and get healthier by moving more in Feb.
Nationwide
Hi I'm Carly Flynn, broadcaster, TV Host, Yoga Business owner and most importantly a "busy" mum of 3. I know how hard it can be to find time to look after yourself, how hard it can be to put you first - I find it extremely difficult too.. I also know how prevalent Type 2 Diabetes is in this country and we can help prevent it (and the massive number of people diagnosed with pre-diabetes) every day with some rather basic lifestyle changes.
In the Diabetes NZ Fitbit MoveMeant Challenge, business leaders and public personalities will compete against each other to see who can out-step and fun-raise more than the others, to win the inaugural bragging rights as champion fundraising star.
Funds raised will go directly to Diabetes New Zealand to the work they do to support all those affected by diabetes..
I'm doing this to get my own health back on track.. when I move more, I feel better, sleep better & eat better - it's a no brainer! I don't have a lot of spare time, so my goal is just to hit the 10,000 step mark per day. Less time on line, more time moving!
The most important thing for me though is to help Diabetes NZ raise awareness abut this killer disease so we can be a healthier, fitter and happier country together!
