To all my adoring league of fans out there I thought I would regale you with how it has been for an aspiring international cricketer training away in central Wellington, New Zealand. First let me thank you for all your many well wishes, I feel your love and mindfulness presence and I take this into consideration when working out, yes I am powered by your aroha. I am pleased to report I have been building a base of fitness by consistently pumping iron or what is it called? Getting the gains? This happens during the week after a long arduous day of graft at the hospital assisting those who save people’s lives. Yes that’s right not only am I a potentially, possibly a cricketing athlete, I also indirectly save lives so my adoring many, many fans this is why you should chuck a dollar or two my way. Now let me tell you, on a Saturday I rise with the sun, eat oats with a shot of ACV (apple cider vinegar). With this fuel I transform it on a 20m artificial soccer turf designed for children but actually, it’s a sprint training turf for international cricketing athletes such as myself. In fact sometimes children play football while I train, I think they secretly admire the athletical feat taking place on their grounds, gasping at my speed and enthusiasm. I have lost 3kg so far, well on my way to be just like Daniel Vetorri, except more pretty. I will keep working on building this fitness base until our first training camp in three weeks time. Here I will learn more cricket skills and hopefully I will have the equipment to practice these professional skills back at home 🏏 [Image description: a picture of wannabe international athlete Sharlene doing a thumbs up during her sprint training at her local primary school]

It was an honour to be selected for the NZ A team to play blind cricket against Australian state teams. As soon as I found out, I wanted to give this opportunity my all. So I began training the next day! I went down to my local primary school which has a small artificial turf for soccer. The length of the turf is roughly the length of a cricket wicket. So I practiced warming up like they showed us at cricket training, different drills such as high knees, kick backs and side to side running. Once I was warmed up I practiced sprinting the length of the field, like we were shown at the cricket camp. This will ultimately help me run between the wickets when I’m batting. The picture I posted is some mural art of dinosaurs next to the soccer pitch where I was training. These dinosaurs have me inspiration to train well. Watch this space 🦕

Awesome work Shar - good idea to warm up, don’t wanna end up like me (torn knee ligament) lol.

And great thinking with the sprints to simulate running between the wickets!

Look forward to the next update 😀
