Help us raise $1000 for speech therapy and give a voice to kids living with Down syndrome.
Auckland
Jack, Sophia and I are part of a mission to help Upside Downs.
It's a virtual mission walking, swimming and running around Aotearoa reaching nearly all the corners of our country where kids are living with Down Syndrome. Okay, you know us - we're mostly walking!
Most importantly, we're inspired by an amazing young boy called George who is fun, a real friend and listens to us. George lives with Down Syndrome and has learned how to use his voice and also he tells us clearly when his disagrees - often in a fun way!
For children with Down syndrome, learning to speak can be a real challenge. There is no government funding for speech therapy and at $2000 a year, it's beyond the means of most Kiwi families. We've seen what a different it's made in George's life, so would love to help other kids.
We'd love to raise $1000 which would fund 6 months of essential speech and language therapy for a child. Giving the skills to talk, read, and write and ensuring these kids have the best possible start to life.
We'd be so grateful for your support - it can be the price of a coffee, or more! Every little bit counts. And we're up for any challenges (for a good donation of course!)
And all donations above $5 qualify for a 33% tax credit from the NZ tax man!
Summed up best by Jack (10) and Sophia (7)...
‘People like George should get a chance to be able to talk and not be left out’
Thanks so much!
We've seen what a different speech therapy has made in George's life, so would love to help other kids.
Over $700 raised... and a great reminder of the amazing impact of speech therapy. 17 March 2021
We are blown away, over $700 raised in 7 days.
Thanks so much for supporting us in our mission for Upside Downs, a particular big thank you today to the Gladstone crew, Kirsty, Sally and the Junior Gows.
4 days left and just $325 to go! So close!
The impact of speech therapy is beautifully summed up by Upside Downs ambassador Miles’ mum who shares that 'speech therapy enables us to see what Miles was thinking.’ It doesn’t get more powerful than that.
Here's a lovely interview with Miles' family....
With gratitude, Ang, Jack and Sophia xx
