🏔️ Give Back to the Himalaya — 10 Cents for Every Metre of Everest

$954 of $884 goal
Given by 32 generous donors in 6 days

Inspired by my time in Nepal and Sir Edmund Hillary’s legacy, I’m raising $884.90 to support the people living in the Everest region.

Arrowtown, Otago

Earlier this year, I spent four weeks in Nepal completing the Three Passes trek travelling through remote valleys, high passes, and some of the most dramatic terrain on Earth. I went for the mountains but what stayed with me most wasn’t the altitude or the views it was the people.

In the Khumbu, the Sherpa and Nepalese communities live with resilience, humour, and generosity. Even where resources are limited, warmth and kindness are not. I was welcomed, supported, and treated with genuine hospitality, and it left a mark on me.

Sir Edmund Hillary once said:

“It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.”

His legacy goes far beyond Everest it lives in the schools, clinics, bridges and opportunities he helped create for the people who made Himalayan exploration possible.

So, in that spirit, I’m taking on the Everest Challenge to raise support for the Himalayan Trust, continuing the work he began to improve access to education, healthcare, safe water, and community support in the Everest region.

THE TARGET

$884.90 — 10 cents for every metre of Mount Everest.

🌍 Your support helps provide:

📚 Education and resources for mountain students

🏥 Medical access where clinics are scarce and distances are long

💧 Clean drinking water and sanitation systems

Every contribution large or small helps continue the connection between Aotearoa and the Himalaya, built on respect, partnership and shared history.

Thank you for supporting, sharing, and being part of this journey.
