Here's a quick wee video of Frisco at bath time in Wellington..

As anyone who has watched previous videos will see, Frisco still LOVES bath time....

He's being looked after by Courtenay of the Wellington Bird Rehabilitation Trust in this clip....I hope if Courtenay has a watch, it isn't expensive one (see clip 'Frisco, part duck part pitbull' to see how watches fare around Frisco).

I'm missing Frisco heaps, but glad hes having lovely time in Wellington.

Your help is still needed for the WBRT to reach their 3d printing goal, a goal that will enable hem to save the lives of many birds just like Frisco. Please share this post and this pAge. And many thanks to everyone who has donated so far, plus to PetBus who gave us a significant discount on Friscos fare up to Wellinton.

    An update on Frisco

Well Frisco saw the vet today and was x-rayed. Unfortunately the news isn't great. His remaining leg has significant degeneration in the hip joint, indicative of possibly septic arthritis. He has been put on prophalactic antibiotics, however the damage is done, and from what I understand, is unlikely to be reversible.

Ironically, the leg in the best shape, is the one that isn't there!

The vet said that the remaining leg bone and the joint on Frisco's stump were in far better condition than on his remaining whole leg. And the stump may be a good candidate for a prosthetic leg.

Unfortunately that means Friscos only hope of getting on his feet again may be down to getting a prosthetic leg.

For now, he is starting antibiotics, and Craig Shepherd, of the Wellington Bird Rehabilitation Trust is going to get in touch with a wildlife specialist at Massy University, and also someone overseas with specialist experience in 3D prosthetics, to see if they have any other suggestions or ideas, going forward.

So right now I will be praying (and if you pray, please do join me) for two things to happen for Frisco:

That the antibiotics do produce some improvement in Friscos ability to bear weight on his hip joint in his one leg

That more generous people like yourselves donate towards The Wellington Bird Rehabiltation Trusts 3D printer fundraiser.

You can donate towards the printer here:

If for any reason you would like to donate and are unable to donate via Givealittle (apparently some offshore credit cards may not work), please contact me directly either by texting me on 020 406 41485, messaging me via the Facebook page, or emailing me (kim@foo.co.nz). I can give you my Nz account details, or I have a business PayPal account which means you can pay by credit card without needing to sign up to PayPal yourself.

He arrived last Thursday late in the evening, and has spent Easter having warm baths and getting to know everybody up there. Craig described him as fiesty last night on the phone!

Hopefully in the next day or two he will be getting x-ray to see what is going on with His remaining leg. Once we have the results of the x-ray, a decision can be made as to next steps...

Here is a photo of Frisco I received this morning from Craig Shepherd in Wellington!
