Several great musical acts come together to help end homelessness – supporting the work of DCM with those who need it most. And you can help too, by buying tickets to see Laura Collins & the Back Porch Blues Band, one man musical sensation Seamus Johnson, the one and only Dr Blue with Vicky Weeds, esoteric folk songwriter Beans and toe tapping band Two Times.

It's the official wrap up to the Walk a Mile Challenge for 2023.

There will also be a charity art auction at the event, run by a top auctioneer from Dunbar Sloane.

The walk a mile fundraiser is almost finished. There is a concert and art auction on this coming Sunday night at San Francisco bath house, which will mark the end of the challenge. You would all be most welcome to coma along. Because it is a fundraiser the tickets are $20. So no pressure. If you wanted to do anything you could post the walk a mile challenge on some of your social media just to give it one more push for one of your contacts to donate. But again no pressure

It's been a grazy week with the passing of a work mate and a funeral. Sometimes death reminds us to live better. For some of the people who I work with life expectancy is not long. I had a conversation last week with someone about Kiwisaver. They said they did not have any expectations of living that long. Life is hard on the homeless and the poor. That's why we do this work, to make positive change.

Thanks for your support. If you get a chance could you share again this page on your social media. It just might connect with someone you know.

I'm.still walking in these old shoes and being reminded that my life is so different from the people DCM works alongside.

  • Day 10 update

I'm so encouraged by the generosity of my friends and others who I have not meet before. Walking for change gives me time to think about the challenges we have in ending homelessness. It is complex and complicated. But I work with many determined people, who have big hearts for those on the edge of society. They want them included in our community, having access to all we have. Helping those struggling with mental health and addiction. Every bit of caring helps and every donation helps too.

Please consider taking up the walk your self. It's just 1 mile each day. For me it's just walking to work and back at night. Then you could reach out to your friends and spread the word. You just need to start before November 25th. So you have lots of time to think about it.

Maybe it would be a good choice for you too.

I have included a photo of someone who walked for change, maybe you will be inspired.
