One group of university students with one mission - bike the length of New Zealand to raise money and awareness for NZ's youth.

Canterbury

We Kiwis, are incredibly fortunate to be able to call New Zealand home. A country of number 8 wire, oval balls, a selection of 4 flags, an immense landscape and endless opportunity.

However, behind all these great things, one in four Kiwi kids live in poverty, that’s 260,000 children. As a clean green ‘pure’ country, this is an issue that urgently needs addressing. We believe that every child should have access to equal opportunities and the basic necessities of shelter, food and clothing.

From our own experiences growing up we understand the difference that these essential opportunities a child experiences makes to their self-belief, the choices they made later in life and in turn drastically influencing where they end up in later life.

We are going to give Kiwi Kids living in poverty access to opportunities that give them skills, and inspire them to chase any future that they desire. We believe this indirectly could be a long term solution to eliminating poverty in New Zealand..

For the three weeks, commencing the 1st of February 2016, we will cycle 2300 km from Bluff to Cape Reinga with the goal of raising as much money as possible for kids in need. Along the way we will be stopping and interacting with as many kiwis as possible to start the conversation about this issue that has been ignored for too long.

Children’s voices are too quiet to be heard over the racket of modern society. There is poverty and issues occurring all over the world and thousands of NZ dollars are sent overseas by conscientious Kiwis every year, but CHILD POVERTY IS HERE! In our own backyard. Our children are the future and we need to invest in them.
