Nikki Kaye MP-Marathon-Grey Lynn School CycleTrail

  • Update for 15/09/2010

      15 September 2010

Last week I met with Grey Lynn school and another keen helper (Pippa Coom) we have set up a working group to?make the trail happen. The plan is to investigate whether it could be not just a cycle trail but maybe a?multisport bike track. I know I need to step up my?running-I am going?to try and do a gigantic run this weekend. I also need to step up the fundraising - only $5 more and we will be at the $1000 mark-be the one that tips us over!

Last week was a good week for training which finished with a big run from Ponsonby to St Heliers back and around the western bays. Parliament is currently in urgency so it has been tough to train this week. I am not a treadmill person and when the house is in urgency I can't leave the building except for the meal breaks. The house rose at midnight last night which is too late for me to go running. I am very grateful to everyone who has sponsored the run so far!

I went for a run in the rain in the botanical gardens in wellers this morning. It was pouring so my clothes were drenched -this lead to me running?at a snails pace. I was a little bit down hearted when I was passed by someone who was probably twice my age. Great coverage for the trail in the harbour news this morning - http://www.stuff.co.nz/auckland/local-news/auckland-city-harbour-news/3986344/MP-on-run-for-school.
