    Hi all

Thank you very much for your contribution with last years event. It went far beyond any of our expectations and was absolutely amazing with what we raised

We are going again this year as we'd be silly not to, it is for the same 2 great causes and it is honestly a lot of fun as well!!

If you are able to donate anything further to the new event, we'd really appreciate it. However inflation is tough and we do not want anyone to be out of pocket, and there are also many great causes you are likely already contributing to. Even a quick share on your local social media is extremely helpful. Thank you for your time!

Wow, what a day! 12.5 hours of driving, 2,156.8km driven myself, and over 20,000km driven by all that participated! What a huge amount!

We managed to push the donations up to nearly our goal of $10K! We are now $200 away. The page still has a week to go so we'll be following up with a few locations to see if we can push it over! We never really had a goal at first, but once we saw this amount was possible, we really wanted to try get it! And we're nearly there!

We appreciate everyone who has donated so far, and those who joined us for the racing Saturday. It was a long day, but it was also fun and totally worth it!!

Thanks again all :) - we will do this again next year. Stay tuned!

    - Olaf and the awesome team from GTSOC (and the Atomites, another group of high level Gran Turismo Sport players who jumped in)

Closer and closer till the day! In fact, less than 48 hours till we start. What a great build up to the event, we've raised some awesome funds and I know some more will come through as we do the event and the last week after the event before this fundraiser wraps up!

If you know of anyone at all who might be able to help, please share this page with them! We are close to 10K and that would be an awesome goal to reach! Although thus far the 9K is far more than we could have ever hoped for and is awesome

We have more and more GTSOC (Gran Turismo Sport Oceanic Crew) Members signing up who will be with us for the day. They have built some awesome race cars and I cannot wait for the whole 12 hour of racing we'll be doing

    Rock on!

    Hi all

As you may be aware, NZ went into a full lock down - Auckland is still under this, and the rest of the country has some light restrictions

This cancelled our planned physical event! I will see if I can slip another one in before the Virtual Charity event.

In any case, the team have been driving in many races in their charity based cars. And with only 3 weeks to go till the event, it is exciting to see how much we've made!

Thanks again for all your help

    - Olaf and the team

  • Some move liveries!

      10 August 2021

Friday we had a bit of fun - we had most of our regulars create (or use a created) livery with I Am Hope and Starship Foundations logos all over the cars. We then shot down the Le Mans straight at 100km/h, bunching the different range of cars together

It looks like we'll be using N1000 (Road cars with 1000BHP), GR.3 (GT3 class) and GR.1 (Le Man style Prototypes) for the event, as these seem very suited to the Le Mans track. Within GR.1 there'll be a mix of newer style cars like the Toyota TS050 and we'll also do GR.C only races which use the older style Le Mans cars like the Mazda 787B

Less than 2 months until the event! I will be running a real world meet with my local car club and be asking for everything who attends to donate some change to a tin I'll have on hand. This will be deposited straight to the charity once the event is over!

Holy heck! After an extremely kind group of people were finished donating, we are at a massive $7,840, and we still have just over 2 months to go until the day!!

I have ordered a PS4 camera and so with any luck I'll be able to broadcast my efforts in full. We also have an awesome team making liveries and getting as much visibility to the cause as possible!

If you are able at all, please share our event. It all counts! I never would have thought $1K could have been passed, and I am now thinking/wondering if we can hit $10K! Who knows. We will be pushing the event quite heavily in the weeks leading up to the event, the initial push has definitely encouraged the team to do as much as they can!

Thanks again to all who have donated what they can :)

    - Olaf, Mathew, Matthew, Tom, Stuart, Hamish & the rest of the GTSOC team who will be dropping in to the event

    Hi all!

Wow, that is crazy. We've more than exceeded our wildest dreams with how much we could make, and there's still 100 days of the fundraiser left! Thank you so much, we're nearly at $6K NZD, that is just awesome. Thank you so very, very much

We're slowly gearing up for the approach to the event, including getting our liveries ready for both the event itself, and running a bit of awareness in the lead up

Check out Mathew's car he has been running in some online races. He recently passed 100 Wins, what an awesome car to have passed that milestone in!

We're hoping to have a nice little selection of Charity based cars come the event. Watch this space!

  • That is huge!

    Hi all!

The charity participants have been extremely humbled and astonished with the generosity already shown this early in the run up to the charity event! Just over $4,000 this early on, that is already 6 times what we made last time, and we're still just over 3 months away! We are lost for words

We know the money already raised will go a long way to help those who need it most. We know it will be put to extremely good use and it is extremely heart warming to see these absolutely fantastic donations coming in

We are tinkering away with the Starship's and I Am Hope's logos, so we can start running these on our virtual race cars in both the run up to the charity event, and for the event itself. I have attached a draft example of how we are able to apply these logos to cars. We have some very talented livery creators and will be showing off their creations in the lead up to this event.

Along with running these in the 2nd part of the 2021 FIA season in Gran Turismo Sport, we will do what we can to raise awareness for the upcoming event, and see about getting more people involved and joining us in the 12 hours of virtual Le Mans!

Again, thank you so very much from the bottom of our hearts!

    - Olaf, Tom, Hamish, Mathew, Matthew & Stuart
