Hair-razing for Hospice

  • Kia ora!

      15 December 2020

Thank you so much to you all for your generosity in giving so much to support me in this event! I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and definitely learnt somethings along the way!

Together we have raised just over $5,000 which is enough for 3 Days of Care and a bit of change.

Nā tō rourou, nā taku rourou ka ora ai te iwi!

With your contribution, and my contribution, the people will thrive!

    Arohanui, Suzanne

  • Hair-razed!

Had a fabulous afternoon yesterday getting my hair razed! A huge thank you to my stylist, Teneka Watkins, for organising the event at Stunning Hair, Upper Hutt; to my whanau and friends for your karakia, waiata and tautoko; to Jess of Jess Dewsnap Photography for recording the event so you can all share the experience with me!

Most importantly, a big shout out to all those who have donated to Hair-razing for Hospice at Givealittle. You have till 15 December to make a donation, if you wish!

See more pics of the day in the gallery below!

I'm going to have to wear a hat for a wee while...and, unlike my beautiful Ngai Tuahuriri aunties, I've never been one for hats. Took me a while to find these ones; and technically, some may not count as a 'hat'!

NB more 'hat' pics in the gallery!

  • One week to go.....

      5 December 2020

In a week's time will be the big event (for me anyway!). The lovely ladies at Stunning Hair in Upper Hutt are organising everything! So this week I am going to have a bit of fun and prepare myself to giving up my long, locks!

The bubbly Teneka at Stunning Hair has been my stylist for years, and has been so helpful in guiding through the process, even though she will be losing a customer (for a few months anyway!).

The very talented Jess at Jess Dewsnap Photography, a dear friend of Helen, took some beautiful photos of Helen and her family. Of the one Helen chose for her service sheet, she said "I feel beautiful when I look at it"!

So to prepare myself for the hair-razing event, I'm going to find and post some pics of my hairdos over the years!
