Participating in Sneaker Friday 2022
Nationwide
I am fundraising for Diabetes NZ Live Brave Mana Ora- Bay of Plenty/Lakes Family Camp.
This camp is for families who have a child with type 1 diabetes, like Ezra. Family Camp is a great opportunity for families to meet other people who have a child with type 1 diabetes so they can build a support network of people who GET-IT. Ezra and I went on our first Family Camp just 3 weeks after he was diagnosed. We have been on one just about every year since. That first camp was great for both me and Ezra, he got to meet other kids with type 1 and not feel like the odd kid out for a couple of days. For me it was reassuring to be able to talk to other parents and know he was going to live a normal life with diabetes. The parents I meet were welcoming and I am still in regular touch with most of those parents today. Ezra is now 16 and has had type 1 for 8 years this October, he is looking forward to camp next year
We now get to give back to other families who are still new to diabetes. Help us help other families raising a child with type 1 diabetes
Thank you for helping to make this the best Sneaker Friday yet! 25 November 2022
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
We are so grateful to everyone who got involved this year. It was only the second Sneaker Friday we've ever done, and we're delighted by how Kiwis stepped up and got involved.
$17,000 was raised thanks to you and others like you! We raised an incredible amount to support those living with Diabetes in Aotearoa.
Thank you again to everyone who joined us on Sneaker Friday to show Aotearoa - DIABETES MATTERS!
