Fundraising for Hohepa Canterbury
Christchurch, Canterbury
Hannah, Sarah, Grace and Brit enjoy the flatting together as part of the Hōhepa community, sharing lots of experiences, fun and laughter together. Flatting gives them independence and freedom, and a place to call their own. A couple of weeks ago two of the ladies came home to find their flat broken into and their rooms trashed and ransacked. They felt panic, fear and confusion, which will have a long-term effect on them. They don’t feel safe in their own home anymore and try to avoid being there alone. Any additional funds raised will go towards outside cameras for security.
We are asking you to please help these young women to replace some of the things they had stolen.
Brit had $700 worth of belongings stolen, including cash, a promise ring, passport and other items, including earring making supplies. Brit has been making earrings to raise money for her upcoming trip to Australia to visit family.
Grace had $200 worth of birthday and Christmas vouchers taken.
Hannah had over $1000 worth of belongings taken (some covered by insurance) and had $78 stolen as well as her protein powder, ipad and UE Boom.
Sarah had $400 cash and her UE Boom as well as her make up and two really special wallets.
Some things can’t be replaced due to sentimental value, which has been very upsetting to Brit, Grace, Hannah and Sarah, including 21st jewellery. It takes a long time for these young women to save this money, and the break in has had a huge effect on them mentally. Any help is appreciated!
