Kelly is running the Hawke’s Bay Half Marathon to raise awareness and funds for the NZ Williams Syndrome Association
Canterbury
I am running the 2019 Air New Zealand Hawke’s Bay International Half Marathon on May 18th. My goal is to raise awareness for Williams Syndrome and to make people more inclined to accept others even if they live a different life than you.
Williams Syndrome is a condition characterized by moderate intellectual disabilities, learning problems, distinctive facial features, and cardiovascular problems. Individuals with this condition are outgoing, friendly, and usually take an interest in other people.
Every two years there is a family camp organized by the NZ Williams Syndrome Association to celebrate how special and wonderful they are. It is great for people with Williams Syndrome and their families. Between 120 and 180 people attend these camps and are greatly enjoyed by those who do.
All funds raised will be donated to the NZ Williams Syndrome Association to help with the camps. Please consider donating to this cause. Every little bit helps and you can help someone
have the experience of a lifetime at camp.
My friend has a sibling with Williams syndrome. He has been raising money for a camp that him and his family go to every two years where families with Williams Syndrome are able to celebrate how special they are.
Runners and walkers are participating in the ASB Christchurch Marathon on the 2nd of June to raise awareness about Williams Syndrome
