We're delighted and honoured that our work has been endorsed by another giant of NZ music - Moana Maniapoto of Moana and the Moahunters and more recently Te Ao with Moana on Maori TV. We keep NZ music alive by giving it airtime, just as we do to hundreds of community groups, schools, sports clubs and others. Please consider supporting our work with a donation.
One of the many things community radio does that commercial stations don't is support NZ music. Not just for a week once a year. Not just in a special show now and then. And not just those who're already big names (who *wouldn't* want to interview Six60?!).
Every day we play music from emerging artists as well as those whose names would otherwise be forgotten. Names like John Hanlon, who recently not only donated to our campaign but wrote "I am something of champion for these gritty groups of radio jocks. And I pass on this cry for help link because their need is a real as their community's need to have a local radio station".
Radio still has the power to "break" new artists, beause streaming - their only alternative - offers an audience millions of options. And because people turn to what they know. Help us introduce talented NZers to a wider audience, and ensure talents like John's are never forgotten. Donate today.
A volunteer has offered to build some of the underlying equipment that we need, so thanks to this generous offer we've been able to reduce the amount of funding we need by almost half.

Over the years our volunteers - aged from 20s to 70s - have battled some pretty atrocious conditions to keep Hutt Radio providing a service to the Hutt Valley. Sometimes the work is inside, in a nice warm studio. But when the transmitter needs something fixed then, no matter what the weather, our volunteers have turn out to do it, or risk the station going off the air!
