Long before we got engaged, we have always felt compelled to use our wedding day (the start of our new life together) to donate to a cause rather than to do a gift registry.

My heritage being from Cambodia, sex trafficking and child slavery has always been an issue that breaks my heart from the inside out - to the point where I have avoided interacting with it because it just felt so BIG. The trauma that precedes me, and that which continues to affect my loved ones, burns in my blood, and I do not forget that it could have easily been me in these positions. And after watching The Sound of Freedom together recently, it struck in both of us a deep catalyst for action. It is not a perfect movie, but it did its purpose in us.

Therefore, after much research, we invite you to join us in donating to Child Rescue. This is an organisation that prioritises the hands-on rescue of vulnerable and victimised children from sex slavery. We think there is something deeply beautiful and profound about people walking into the darkest of human spaces, putting their lives in danger and physically rescuing children from being harmed.
