Challenge complete, after 4 hours, lots of Hill-arious hills and keeping a constant eye on the prize, it is done.

The penultimate day, rain was coming so added an extra challenge and took the mtb up to the Maungakawa lookout taking the steeper and longer climb from this side. Great views again, came home via the Te Miro loop, got a bet wet but was home before tge heavens really opened up.
Yes this challenge has certainly been a test of the mind but what it gives you are health benefits in bucket loads, mental health as we as physical health 🙌🤟
Weather couldn't make up it's mind today so took the mtb up French Pass again for Day 12. As is me I added a bit more to give me a few more kms and a couple more hills to keep challenging myself. Rock and roll everyone 🤟🙌
It was like, someone left the (fruit) cake out in the rain today with me the fruit as was a wet one but had to be done so did the Aspin loop on the mtb, a few smaller hills but has been done and we're down to 3.

Another beautiful evening after yesterday's wet and today was up to Gudex Reserve up Mainfakawa via Te Miro and the countdown is on - 4 to go! 🤟🙌
After 8 stunning days the weather gods had their way so it was a wet and uncomfortable ride this evening. I threw another French Pass into the mix and added a bit extra to give me another long hill to climb back up.
This challenge gets you to put yourself in that uncomfortable zone and then push your way through it and out the other side.

Today was a bit different, I was tail end Charlie for the Mitre10 Mega Walk in Napier today. This is an annual fundraiser for the Acorn Project who provide wrap around support for youth with cancer and their families and an organisation I had a lot to do with when I lived in the Hawkes Bay.
So no hills for me today, apart from the 25km ride back to my car afterwards into a head wind which felt like one! No, the hills today were climbed by everyone who took part and ticked off their own achievement. Hills are also climbed every day by these kids and their families as they navigate their journeys with cancer.

After a self imposed rest day to recharge I did the Te Miro, Waterworks, Scotsmans Valley loop this morning. An early start meant the heat was just turning on when I got back so plenty of time to enjoy the fabulous day.
Another trip up French Pass this evening, had a great view of the Te Uku Wind Farm in the distance, we'll worth the grind.
Te Miro loop this evening, seemed to be warmer than yesterday so if anything, the uncomfortable part of this challenge is always a constant !

Up Te Miro again then carried on up to Sanitorium Hill for today's early morning ride. It's a stunning day with spectacular views
Done and dusted, out for 3 hours this morning taking in Te Miro, Waterworks Rd and Scotsmans Valley so not a bad start. Cycle shirts arrived yesterday as well so had to be done.
