Epsom Girls Rowing Ergathon Fundraiser - Holly Roper

$585 donated
Given by 6 generous donors in 7 days

With the money fundraised, I hope to make Epsom Rowing the fastest it can be!

Auckland

I was never really into competitive sport, but when I first tried rowing that all changed. Although I am only in my second season of rowing, the squad, coaches, committee of Epsom Rowing and the sport itself has made such an impact on my life.

With the 2020 Maadi event (our national secondary competition) cancelled the week before due to COVID it was a crushing end to the season. The 2020/21 season didn't start so well as it was hard top stay motivated training at home, but being supported by the people in Epsom Rowing has made this whole year so much better, and I would love to give back to them.

On Saturday the 21st of November, myself and the whole squad aim to row the equivalent distance of the Waikato River twice on rowing machines (erg's) - thats 850km! We aim to be the best girl’s school rowing club in New Zealand. We have the rowing talent and coaching talent, and a growing pool of rowers for the future, but to take us to the next level of competition we need to upgrade our old rowing equipment.

All money raised will go directly to Epsom Rowing...PLEASE SUPPORT US!!!

As we are a registered charity we can provide a donation receipt which can use to make a tax claim.

ABOUT EPSOM ROWING

Rowers from Epsom Girls Grammar School first took to the water in 1987. We won our first gold in the U17 Novice 4+ crew and we have continued to compete in local, regional and national rowing regattas since. The Epsom Girls Grammar School Rowing Club has operated as an independent Incorporated Society with its own Constitution since 1990. As we are not funded by the school, each year the squad needs to raise all the money required for operating and capital expenses through membership fees, sponsorship and fundraising.

Epsom Girls Grammar has a strong and proud rowing history. We have produced champion rowers such as Kayla Pratt (Gold at 2014 World Champs, Bronze at 2013 World Champs) and Lexi Kerr (gold in Trans Tasman Cup 2014). Closer to home, at the 2018 Maadi Regatta, our 8+ crews made the A Finals in every age group being one of only four schools to achieve this accolade. This season, Epsom Rowing has had the largest intake of rowers in our 31- year rowing history.
