Honouring Ivy: A Family's Tribute to Compassionate Care

We are a family united by love and gratitude, coming together to celebrate the life of our beloved Mum, Ivy. In her memory, we are participating in the Auckland Half Marathon, taking part in race distances from the 5km up to the marathon. Our mum was passionate about sport, and we believe that taking on this challenge together is a fitting tribute to her. The Auckland Marathon is an iconic event, providing a perfect platform to share our message with a large audience.

We are running and walking to raise funds for two incredible charities: Hospice Taranaki and Ozanam House in Palmerston North.

The incredible nurses and doctors from Hospice Taranaki provided Ivy with unwavering care and support until her final moments. These dedicated professionals not only cared for Ivy but also offered us comfort and strength during a difficult time. This service is free to the patients and their families. Without their kind, warm, round the clock generous support we all would have felt so lost in this journey. Knowing Hospice are there to help with palliative care was an enormous comfort to us and being able to keep Ivy at home was such a blessing.

Ozanam house is a free accommodation service in Palmerston North for patients and a support person whilst undergoing radiation therapy in the lower north island, including Taranaki. This amazingly caring team ensure that this is a home away from home during a very stressful time. We were so well looked after during Ivy's 6 weeks of treatment.
