Its gonna be a huge effort, even for someone without Type 1
Auckland
My name is Jack Murray-Griffiths. I am 17 years old and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 7 years old. This is my first fundraiser for Diabetes. I am very passionate to help raise awareness and funds to help those with Diabetes as I gained enormous motivation from watching the efforts and results of other Type 1 people as I grew up.
My Personal T1 Story
Days before my 7th birthday I was rushed into the ICU unit at Waikato hospital. I spent 7 days there, and left as a diagnosed Type 1 Diabetic. This was a huge life change for my family and I. I was too young to understand what this diagnosis meant or how my lifestyle would now have to drastically change. I was told there was no cure. This was life threatening to me and I had it for the rest of my life - all day, everyday. However for my mother this meant a lot more as she now had to look after a 6 year old T1. For her this meant having to set alarms 2 or 3 times a night so she could check my blood levels. Mum had to change our diet and eating times for the entire family just to learn to deal with having diabetes.
and I am Jacks aunty, Sarah. I am here to help answer and questions along the way so that Jack and his mate Vincent can do what they do best........cycle. Please please help us. 100K is a lot of money but I reckon we can do it because NZers are amazing at getting behind a good story and helping
