Dono runs the Auckland Half Marathon in support of Crohn's and Colitis

Auckland

Having taken up running to help pass the time in lockdown, I have decided to run the Auckland Half Marathon in support of Crohn's and Colitis NZ.

I have chosen to support this cause as my little sister Elliot suffers from Crohn's. She was diagnosed 3 years ago.

Crohn's disease is a type of inflammatory bowel disease which in her case has caused fatigue, abdominal pain and malnutrition.

Crohn's and Colitis New Zealand provides support networks and education to sufferers and their families.

They also run Camp Purple which is a place for young people with IBD to meet and share their stories. This is why I will be running in a purple shirt.

CCNZ are working towards getting more medications funded in New Zealand which have been available overseas for many years.
