Hi my name is Iain Macdonald, I am a 37yr old endurance runner from Rotorua.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in May 2020. So far my journey has been positively life changing however I know that is not always the case for everyone.
I have partnered with Diabetes NZ to fundraise for their organization. I want to show the world that Type 1 Diabetes does not need to hold you back! I will be using this time to train for and compete in the 2022 Tarawera 102km Ultra! A feat hard enough on its own let alone adding Type 1 Diabetes into the mix. Please join me in supporting this epic organization as I push my body to its limit!
All donations will go to Diabetes New Zealand towards initiatives such as:
Continued advocacy resources such as the current CGM petition !
Access to advanced technologies and devices for the management of diabetes
Increased public awareness and understanding of diabetes
Youth and whanau resources

I started off with an open mind and decided not to have a target goal but funnily enough my competitive side came out! Lets get this campaign to 10k! And really make a difference for others like me #teamtype1
