In Honour Of My Mum - Linda MacKenzie

  • Thank You - We Did It!

With you help and support we managed to raise an incredible $1930! Thank you all so very much for your contribution. We had a really incredible run. We set off a little after 7am on Saturday 7th May with mum in our thoughts for the adventure ahead. The weather couldn't be better and we had an amazing support crew to cheer us on. I reached out to the local Rotorua Community just days before our run to thank them one last time for supporting us. We had so many toots, waves and cheers from the locals. It really helped!

No more running marathons but what an event to finish on. I couldn't have asked for a better way to finish running marathons. I'm grateful and proud of my friend Vic who joined me around the lake that day. We finished just in time for lunch too which was perfect.

In honour of my mother and to thank the Northern Hospice for the incredible support, my dad, Craig MacKenzie, will be matching what I've donated as a further generous donation to a worthy cause.

Thank you all once again for your support.

  • Rotorua Marathon Postponed- the show must go on!

Today we found out the Rotorua Marathon has been postponed until September. Yes I would be lying if I didn’t shed a few tears. I’ve made a really important decision to still run around that lake on Saturday 7th May with my beautiful friend Vic.

Why not wait until September? May will mark one year since I lost my beautiful mother, I’m raising money in honour of her, which will go to the Totora Hospice in Whangarei. May was my first Marathon around that lake and I’m finishing what I started. Sadly I cannot do another 4 months of running. This was always going to be my last 42.2km run & I have to put my body first.

If you’ve got no plans that weekend I could use a few cheer leaders to support two crazy people. 😂

Today we knocked off 21km. It was tough. It was really hot but we did it! Aspire to make a difference. I can tell you our local community made a difference today. Thank you for the waves, toots and we’ll wishes!

So proud of how we are tracking for the Rotorua Marathon. Big families, work & training to plan every week. The very early mornings have been so beautiful and the usual laughter and banter along the way. These marathons we train for are not just a challenge but are a journey and adventure all at the same time. So grateful to be sharing this with my lovely friend Victoria.

Bit of a laugh today when we interrupted a local farmer moving his calves. Half went the wrong way and he had to go back and get them. The other half happily ran alongside us for a bit. The adventures of a long distance runner.

Some may say it’s luck, some may say that my beautiful mum has been helping us with perfect running conditions for training. Vic and I ticked off 16km today. We had rain after a really hot dry week. Thanks mum for the perfect cool morning conditions. Makes those extra kms so much easier.
