Honouring Clyde’s memory by supporting injured animals rescued by RRR – Rescue, Revive, Rehome requiring emergency veterinary care
Mount Maunganui, Tauranga
Clyde was more than just a pet. He was my affectionate ragdoll cat who greeted me each day and brought joy since he and his sister Sushi arrived as six-week-old kittens.
In May 2026, Clyde was deliberately shot in Mount Maunganui.
Despite catastrophic injuries to his jaw and tongue, Clyde survived and was cared for by the extraordinary Koru Vets team. They fought to save him through major reconstructive surgery, but his injuries were ultimately too severe and we had to say goodbye.
The public response to Clyde’s story has been overwhelming, with many asking to help with vet costs. Thanks to the incredible compassion of PD Pet Insurance, all of Clyde’s veterinary expenses — including surgery, emergency care, cremation, and his final injection — were fully covered, with the excess waived.
Because of that generosity, all donations raised here will go into a dedicated project account held by RRR – Rescue, Revive, Rehome – Bay of Plenty to help injured animals needing urgent veterinary care and treatment.
I hope some good can come from something so senseless and cruel.
PD Pet Insurance and Paw Justice have also jointly offered a $2000 reward for information leading to the prosecution and conviction of the person responsible for shooting Clyde. No funds raised here will contribute to that reward.
Police ask anyone with information to contact 105 and quote file number 260513/6073.
Thank you. Through this fund, Clyde’s memory will continue helping animals in need.
