Suicide prevention boxing fundraiser for The Key to Life Charitable Trust, following a 14 week intense training program. Gulp.
Auckland
Welcome to IT Heavy Hitters 2017! This fundraiser is an awesome opportunity for the IT industry to stand up and be counted on an important issue and have some fun doing it at the same time.
When you're involved in a corporate type environment like the IT industry its incredibly easy to get stuck behind a desk. We are all looking forward to learning a new sport, especially one that gets us so far out of well established comfort zones as well as being able to contribute to a cause like suicide prevention/awareness.
IT Heavy Hitters is an opportunity to acknowledge that issues, such as suicide, impact all parts of the community, and sometimes people around you can really be struggling despite looking like they have everything sorted.
Raising awareness of these issues makes us all more aware of the need to communicate, watch out for those around us and also be on the look of for signs, even really subtle ones, that someone maybe struggling and need support.
We are the Blue Team for the Auckland event. Our 14 week very intensive training program runs from February to May and we will be taken from what could politely be termed "complete crap" to elite athletes.
We're really excited about that fact the it's more than just the event itself, there is a whole journey that each of us and the team as a whole goes on. It's the build up, the training, pushing ourselves way out of our comfort zones and of course, winning on the big night.
The team putting this together, our coach Daniella and her team are absolutely amazing and we'd all love your help in making a meaningful contribution to this charity for the 2017 event. Donate here or on the main Give A Little page for IT Heavy Hitters 2017. Loving your work in advance and hope to see you at fight night! #blueistrue
