James' Ridiculous Commute to Work: 52km Run

Our girls have been involved with Paekakariki Surf Lifesaving for the last 3 years. In that time, they've become a part of something special. They've made great friends and are loving their time at the beach.

With the new clubhouse build almost complete, we're pushing for funding to finish everything off, so my girls (and all the other clubbies) can officially cut the ribbon and start enjoying the new clubhouse.

Once a year I do a weird commute. I live in Raumati beach, and work in Wellington. That's roughly a 50km commute. The only rule: be at my desk ready to work by 8am. Previously I've cycled the scenic way (70km), I've trail ran part of the way (30km) and triathaloned (2km swim, 40km bike, 10km run). I've never made it to my desk by 8am (sorry boss).

This year I'm going for the full run. I've never run 52km before, and since running my first marathon earlier this year I've not been running much 😬

I'll be leaving in the early hours of the morning, probably around 1am, to make sure that this is the year I make it on time.

The run will be done one morning between 08-19 December, hopefully on a warm, dry day with a slight northerly!

I'd really love to be able to pass on some hard cash to the club as a result of my silly commute.
