Participating in Joyride '26
Wellington
This November, I'm participating in Joyride! But I don't have access to a bike currently so I will be doing a Joyrun challenge: to run the length of Khal Par 100 times over the month.
I'm doing this to raise money for Joyya and their communities in West Bengal, India. Joyya is all about seeing transformation in communities of modern slavery and extreme poverty, and part of that is investing in children and young people. Every child deserves a childhood of life, fun and joy. They deserve to dream and hope for the future, and know that they are awesome. Slavery and poverty rob them of those things and it's part of Joyya's purpose to create spaces for that to change.
Joyride is an opportunity for us in Aotearoa to be a part of the transformation happening over there. The money raised from Joyride goes to community carnivals, kids clubs, education, vocational training, health and legal clinics, and more! So get stuck in and donate - and you might experience a bit of transformation yourself.

In Kolkata, a lot of kids don’t get to enjoy just being kids. Poverty and modern slavery don’t leave much room for fun or joy in their lives
