  • Thankyou All, I will be running next year

      29 October 2021

Thanks for the support over the year team, unfortunately Covid won this round.

But i'll be back next year with 2 full marathons.

I'm sure the Kids that will benefit from your donations will be super appreciative, even more so during these times.

    A WELL overdue update!!

A month and a bit back on May 15th I participated and completed the HB half marathon. It was my second time running this course so I had big expectations of beating my time from then... however NOTHING went how I wanted it to. It all started the night before when I just didn't sleep well at all, but I got to the start line the next morning after downing a bottle of V and slurping back a Pure Energy Gel.

Anyways, the run started and all was going well until I hit the 12km mark as I was running along the river bank. My pace dropped, the temp was getting hotter and all I could see was more river bank. I was not having a good time, and all I wanted to do was finish right then and there but I persevered and kept plodding along.

I eventually crossed the finish line with a time of 1:56:41, which was 2 mins slower than 2 years ago. I was gutted about that to begin with but then realised anything under 2hrs for me is a pretty sweet gig.

Annnnnd my next event is the Auckland Half Marathon is October!!

And just like that, the first half marathon is complete! I didn’t set out any goals other than to finish and get a cheeky sun 2hrs 30 as I had never done a trial run as such, and I absolutely smashed my time goal. I came in at 2hrs 10.

A run I would definitely recommend to anyone, even my mum completed the half marathon walk.... her first time ever completing this distance. 6.5 weeks to go till the next Half Marathon which is the Hawkes Bay Half!
