A challenge to push our boundaries whilst raising funds for Mileka's family
Waikato
I am challenging myself and other friends/family of Mileka's to push their boundaries and complete their longest ever distance at the Blue Lake challenge 23/24 September to raise funds for the family as they continue to fight Mileka's cancer.
For me this means a minimum of 12 x 5.6km laps which equates to 67.2km and around 1000metres of vert. It's going to hurt but will be nothing compared to what Mileka has been through.
Mileka's battle with Cancer started in 2015. Since then she has collected over 1400 courage beads for the blood tests, treatments, procedures and the surgeries she has had. She has been a real trooper dealing with the terrible cards she has been dealt. In June 2015 her arm was amputated, Sep & Oct 2016 she had tumours removed from her lungs and most recently a routine check up CT scan has revealed a relapse with Mileka having to have further surgery on her lungs at the end of Aug 2017. On top of this Mileka has also corrective surgeries for clubfoot.
Please donate to support our fundraising efforts to help Mileka's family.
My name is Cherie Waterhouse. I have been a friend of Mileka's family for a few years now and have seen the heart breaking struggle they have been through battling cancer. Cancer takes its toll financially with multiple out of town hospital visits so I am fundraising to help the strain.
