Let's help Mike Lemalie's friends ''Walk a mile in their shoes" to fundraise for Gumboot Friday 2022

$3,320 donated
Given by 25 generous donors in 12 weeks

Fundraising for "I am hope" through Gumboot Friday.

Bluff, Southland

In Dec 2016, the Lemalie family lost their 14 year old son, Montel Lemalie to suicide.

Last year Mike decided that he wanted to spread the awareness of suicide prevention to as many families as he could. So, to do this, he walked in gumboots from Bluff to Invercargill, then back to Bluff which helped him raise a massive $29,464.00 for this cause. From this, Mike felt an overwhelming amount of love from all those who stood beside him.

This year, due to a serious knee injury and then a recent knee surgery, this has made it impossible for him to participate in the walk again. However, Mike couldn't do nothing and wants to continue to spread awareness to our youth.

So, with Mike Lemalie's support and in true Bluff style, his friends and colleagues will be carrying the flag with both Montel and his family in their thoughts as they walk from Invercargill to Bluff on Saturday 29th October 2022 to fundraise for "Gumboot Friday" which supports children and teens with counselling and suicide prevention awareness.

We believe in Mike's motto of "the youth are our future, we need to look after our future. It’s okay to talk" and we hope you believe too. So, for the second year our aim is to fundraise as much as we can to support this wonderful cause so that we can contribute to giving the youth of today the help and support they need and deserve.
