Raising awareness and supporting people living with Parkinson's Disease.
Waikato
Linley, Sue and Sharyn's families have had first hand experience of living with Parkinson's and have come together to help raise money in support of people living with the disease.
Linley's Dad Noel was diagnosed when he was in his forties and he lived with the disease until he died 6 years ago, when he was in his early eighties. Linley was 9 years old when her Dad was diagnosed. Linley's Mum and family will always be grateful for the support provided to their family and she wants to raise money for others whose lives have been affected by Parkinson's.
Sue's Dad Bob was diagnosed 5 years ago when he was 72. His health has deteriorated rapidly and he is now in full time care. My Mum and family are very grateful for the support and help received from the Parkinson’s nurses.
Sharyn’s father-in law John was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 13 Years ago at the age of 61. An active Dairy Farmer all his life this disease has taken away his retirement years. Parkinson’s is an awful disease and we have watched it gradually rob John of both the use of his body and now his mind. John is now receiving full-time hospital care. Parkinson’s New Zealand have been a great support throughout John’s Parkinson’s journey so to be able to raise funds in acknowledgement of this assistance is the least we can do.
Linley, Sue and Sharyn are all very aware of the impact Parkinson's Disease has on families. We are holding a Tulip Cream Tea to raise awareness and provide support to people with Parkinson's and their families.
Thank you all so very much! 9 November 2020
We raised $825.00 via GiveALittle and $739.00 in cash at our Tulip Cream Tea. This provided an overall total for Parkinson's NZ of $1564.00. Congratulations to Corinna Bonner for winning the gift prize for GiveALittle supporters.
A huge thank you from Sharyn, Sue & myself for your wonderful support. Linley x
