Liv's Birthday Fundraiser for Perinatal Support - In Honour of Kristin

On the 27th August 2020 we lost my gorgeous cousin Kristin to post-natal anxiety and depression which she had been fighting for the past 14 months.

Kristin and I grew closer over the past year as I was lucky enough to live in Wellington, close enough to visit while she was in hospital. We were able to bond over shared mental health experiences with anxiety and had many conversations about how sucky it is, and also what techniques we were using/trying to get through. My most cherished memories will be the couple of evenings we spent chatting about family, sharing stories from childhood, Grandparents and other cousins.

Our loss of Kristin has highlighted a devastating weakness in our system of caring for the mental health of Mothers. Which is why I would like to raise some funds for Little Shadow for my birthday. Little Shadow does not receive any funding from the government and relies heavily on volunteers and donations. They provide subsidised perinatal specific counselling, as well as putting on events to encourage education, support and awareness.
