To raise awareness and donations for The Acorn Project HB - a charity who support teens with cancer and their families..

Hawke's Bay

Lochie was born with a craniopharyngioma, a slowly growing brain tumour based on the pituitary gland. An operation at 4 1/2 removed most of the tumour as well his pituitary gland. He lost sight in his right eye. He lost the ability to grow, his immune system is severely comprised for life. He has daily injections of growth hormone in his thigh to help maintain healthy living. At age 11, Lochie had the tensing tumour removed through his nose, which failed and ended up needing several surgeries as he leaked spinal fluid through his nose. Four episodes of Addisons crisis where Lochie has nearly died, will mean close monitoring of daily medications. Brain fatigue has stopped him living a quality life and at this stage is under the guidance of the endocrinology team at HBDHB. The Acorn Project HB support teens 12-23 living with cancer and their families. We want to show our heartfelt gratitude for their ongoing support and love. Please donate to this amazing charity, as it currently has 60 members dealing with similar stories like Lochies story.
