A fundraising page for Mercy Hospice in memory of a mate.
Auckland
Some of you will know that I have been rowing (indoors) most mornings as part of trying to achieve a goal I set myself. This came off the back of a bunch friends and family raising money last year that went towards Jason Husband's journey with stage four bowel cancer. He passed last year in August and spent his last month up at Mercy Hospice in Auckland.
About the goal:
Off the back of moveforwep last year I decided to set myself a target of rowing 1,500kms before the end of 2025. 4.1kms a day on average over a year for those who don't want to get the calculator out.
With 80 days to go and I have 205.8kms left.
Fundraising:
The people at Mercy were amazing and left a lasting impression so I decided to see if through this rowing business I could try raise some money for them.
So its time to step it up a little bit more - I'll donate $1 for every KM I can row over 1,500kms BEFORE CHRISTMAS day to Mercy Hospice in Auckland.
If anyone wants to match this or contribute with whatever amount you choose, to go towards a donation to Mercy Hospice jump on in, they are such a brilliant charity.
In a good week I can get 45kms done, in an average week more like 35kms.
1,500kms and Beyond - the money hours 2 December 2025
I hit 1,500kms on Sunday afternoon the 23rd of November. Phew.
From here I will be donating $1 for every km I row before Christmas.
Currently at 1,535kms with 22 days to go I'll put the foot down and see how many kms I can shift to make sure I have earned all the Christmas ham.
Special shout out a good mate Brad who has said he will match my donation and make sure I don't take anymore days off - If anyone wants to do the same just send me a message.
Thank you to all the people who have kindly donated in support and even provided some words of encouragement - its all very much appreciated.
