Albie's World Record Attempt for Mental Health Awareness
On 21 October 2019, I'll be attempting to break a Guinness World Record - 'Longest Punchbag Marathon' to raise awareness for Mental Health.
AucklandMental illness: a wide range of conditions, disorders that affect your mood, thinking and behaviour. This includes depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and more. This year, 1 in 5 New Zealanders will face mental health challenges and that to me is just 1 too many!
So to raise awareness, in support of the above, and in particular suicide and depression, I'll be attempting to break a Guinness World Record - "Longest Punchbag Marathon" - currently held at 52 hours.
I have suffered from depression a number of times before and I can tell you the stigma, the loneliness and the sheer pain that associates with this is immense.
My hope is that, not only do I raise awareness around these issues, but help reduce the stigma and myths that so many of us tend to think.
I'd like to let those that are experiencing such an illness know - you are LOVED, you are WORTH IT, you are SOMETHING TO EVERYBODY and more importantly you are NOT ALONE. We can do this together. 🙌
Albie Roebeck's involvement (page creator)
I want to create awareness for Mental Health, Suicide and Depression. I have aligned with 2 charities - Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand and Wood For The Trees. Two great charities doing awesome things.
