A bunch of Kiwi Dads running a marathon to raise money for water wells in South Sudan.
Warkworth, Auckland
Kia Ora,
My name is Jono, I'm a Kiwi doctor helping run a community health and development program in South Sudan. And this October I'm running the Auckland marathon with my friends Rodwyn Isaacs & Tim Farland, and brothers Mike & Anthony Macleod to raise money for water wells in South Sudan!
One of the key challenges our friends in South Sudan face is a lack of clean water, with the average family living 5km from safe drinking water. Most ladies spend a significant part of their life carrying water in 20L containers over huge distances in brutal sun. As a result many resort to drinking contaminated surface water, resulting in much preventable suffering and death.
Last year we had the privilege of installing boreholes in 6 of the communities we work in - it was awesome to see the transformative impact clean water had on these communities!
This year we want to install water wells in another 6 villages - and we're running this marathon to help make it happen!
Each water well costs $8000 to install, and provides a village of 1000 people with clean safe drinking water. So for every $8 you donate, you're giving someone a lifetime of clean water!
Thanks so much!!
Thanks Matt & Hana!! Looking forward to having you join the team next year Matt!
Really appreciate your support Les & Glyndyr 🙏
