Hello all! The challenge may have finished but donations can continue to roll in till we close things off on Sunday!
Last Sunday 30 March, Andrea, Norma and Bob joined me for Climb 39. We all made it up the Mauao (and down). We subsequently ended up at Lattitude for a celebratory drink (or two) with Bethany and Hamish, Gabby and Chrissy from the SCPA. On Friday 4th April, Andrea and I braved the absolutely awful weather to attend the Mt Everest Challenge wrap up. The Breeze team were there with Joelene and Max to hand over a "cheque" to Andrea. Well done climbers and many thanks to you all for your generous donations.
Well, here we are. This is the FINAL week of the 2025 challenge so it's your chance to squeeze in those final climbs and encourage your friends and whanau for those last donations.
Thank you so much for your support, the Dogs/Cats/Kittens/Puppies at our Tauranga SPCA (and the hoomans) appreciate your efforts!
This Friday, we wrap up the challenge from 5.30pm at The Mount Surf Club, we'd love to see you there!
I struggled up the Mount today for Climb No 38. Yah! I will do a few more in support of those who are still climbing next week. And, if you are keen, join me and Andrea on Sunday at 4pm, at the water fountain by the Surf Club, and lets do a climb (and then go to the pub!). All going well, we will have great views - like the one in the photo that I took today. And, if you, can, share this page to those who have yet to donate. Many thnaks to you generous people.
Such awesome work!!
Hi. I completed these two climbs on Tuesday. So, just one to go. These climbs were dedicated to Cleo. She has been at the Centre for a while. A lovely girl with a few issues. We had her here at home for a weekend but when we asked Luca if she could stay he said "No."
I completed Climbs 33 and 34 today in far better weather than the other day. And, it was a bit hot so I had an ....
I was up early for Climbs 29 and 30 this morning. Not so many people today. I wondered why?
Celebrated Climbs 25 & 26 this morning with the team from Zespri - thanks for the kiwifruit - and the Breeze.
Just completed Climbs 23 and 24 this morning. Now, complete the quiz in the attached image!
I was up early yesterday morning for Climbs - see image below. Beautiful!
While I haven't posted for a bit, I have still been climbing. I did Climb 17 and 18 this morning. So, almost halfway. Today's climbs were dedicated to the little guy in the image waiting for a new home (the kitten; not me)
Wow! What an amazing amount of support we have received for our local SPCA already, thank you! We still have some of our limited edition Tees available for purchase for a $20 donation that goes to the cause. These are for sale at the SPCA Op Shop in Mount Maunganui, Owens Place.
Well done guys, keep up the good work.
I was able to complete Climbs 8 & 9 before it got too hot. While going up the steps I decided that I needed to show more commitment. So, I will "give up da drink" until I have done all 38 climbs. Join me at the pub after the 38th! I visited the SPCA after the climb for a cuddle.
I fear the sun has already got to you with making that kind of commitment Mr Jennings! That will serve as a huge incentive to hustle your bustle up Everest! Good luck!
Yesterday, after the rain, I completed two climbs. I needed a Cookie Time triple chocolate biscuit to help me complete the second climb. Very hot and muggy, you know. The guys in the image below are up for adoption. Interested?
Today is the day: the Mount Everest Challenge began. I climbed the Mount with Rich, the owner of the company that printed the T-shirts, at 6.45am. Nice guy. Good walk. Please share so that we can increase donations! $800 so far, thanks to you all.
Just back from climbing the Mount. Lots of people there at 7am. Going up the steps takes me about 22 minutes or so depending on traffic. Below is a photo of Charlie and Josey at our place, both 'foster fails' now enjoying a good life. Shame that there are so many others waiting for their chance. Please share so that we can do more to help.
Hiya. Many thnaks for your generous donations and your support. I am doing this to to help such animals as Rufus, who headed off on Saturday to a new life where he will be greatly loved. Cute, isn't he. Please share this page and the link. Talk soon.
Hiya. I have been walking the Papamoa Hills (9) and the Mount (5) over the last few weeks to get ready for the Challenge. I will be increasing this training over the next 3 weeks (possibly). Many thanks for the donations - we are doing well!
