23 January 2025Kia ora e te whānau!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted, so I wanted to share a bit of an update I’ve been in San Francisco for almost two weeks now, and I absolutely love it here! The YWAM SF team has been incredibly welcoming, caring, and eager to get to know me. God has been so good, and I’ve felt such a deep sense of peace since leaving Wellington.
We’re currently in week 2 of my Discipleship Training School, and I feel so blessed to be part of this little but amazing group. There are just 3 of us students (including me), so we're pretty close. Even though many are facing challenges here, Tenderloin District has bout 2500-3000 unhoused people here alone. It ain't that big of an area. Im not sure what to compare it to tho? I think that's like pito-one - Avalon maybe. I'll have to figure that out.
we've been spending time at the 'Ellis Room' – a community center where people can come to chat, get a meal, a shower, a haircut, and even fresh clothes and hygiene packs. We’ve also been handing out hot chocolate on Friday nights when the weather gets cold. Tomorrow, we’re helping out at the local food pantry, serving food to around 300 people in just a few hours!
I’ll be sending out a semi-weekly newsletter with more details about what I’m doing, along with my thoughts and feelings along the way.
