The medical misadventurers are a group of hospital-types based around NZ that get together once a year for a one-day run.
Auckland
Every year Peter (team captain) gathers together a team of like minded (mostly) adventurers who are keen to get out of the city and into the NZ hills. As far away from Auckland as possible. In addition to being a long way from Auckland, the run generally involves a lot of running up hill, exhausted banter, chaffing and usually a special feature- this time, mud. It should also finish by 5pm in time for dinner and a beer (or alternative non alcoholic refreshment) with locals at a nearby hotel.
This year the team are heading south to Stewart Island and plan to run the Rakiura Track. Just under 40km of (mostly) mud and stunning native bush.
We hope to give back to the local community by fundraising for two great local community groups.
SIRCET is a group of volunteers in Half Moon bay that focus their attention on local pest eradication and creating an environment where native flora and fauna thrive in half moon bay.
The Ulva island charitable trust is group of dedicated Stewart Islanders who work together with the Department of Conservation towards the further ecological restoration of Ulva Island.
