Taupo Emergency Services uniting for our youth.
Taupo, Waikato
Mental health effects our youth sometimes in minor ways, sometimes with tragic results.
Our emergency services are at the front line, spending a huge amount of their time with our youth when they need them the most, helping to treat, helping to resolve, being there when it counts. We recognise the importance of early intervention and the importance of counselling services.
OUR MISSION
To raise money for the treatment of the mental health in our youth.
OUR AIM
For our team of 12 to walk the circumference of Lake Taupo, fundraising prior to and along the way.
THE EXECUTION
At 4:00pm on Friday the 8th of November three members from each of Police, FENZ, St John and the Greenlea Rescue Helicopter will leave from the Taupo Fire station eastern shore to Taupo. The walk will be continuous for the participants, stopping only briefly to rest and eat, returning to the Taupo Fire station around lunch time on Sunday.
THE PURPOSE
To show our emergency services share the common purpose of supporting our youth, working together to complete a 160km in an estimated 40 hours without sleep, an extremely tough physical and mental challenge.
THE FUNDRAISING
We are asking you show your support for your emergency services by a donation to the Taupo Emergency Services Lake Challenge. All proceeds will go to the charity I am Hope, founded by Mike King. I am Hope provides free counselling by qualified professionals to those youth in need.
SUPPORT
We are stoked to have the support of Stoney Creek clothing.
