We are a group of five university students walking for 40 hours (Akaroa peninsula to Christchurch) for Christchurch City Mission
Christchurch, Canterbury
We are a group of five first year university students living in Rochester and Rutherford Hall and our why is simple - to make a positive difference in our local community; the way we aim to do this is by walking for 40 hours from Akaroa peninsula to Christchurch. Inspired by the ‘40-hour challenge’ run by World vision, we wanted to use our love for being active and engaging in physical challenge to have a measurable impact. However, we felt that really, we needed to aim our efforts closer to home, hence the reason why our fundraising efforts are aimed at the Christchurch City Mission.
We have also been able to plan volunteering events with City Mission in order to help show the great things that City Mission do in our community and educate others on the importance of getting behind these causes.
We have recently had the privilege of connecting with BDO Advisor Philip Roth who only a couple of months ago was in Ukraine where he was helping others at great personal risk. The selflessness shown and desire to improve the lives of others is something we greatly admire. This has only fuelled our mission to make a positive difference, all be it on a less grand scale than travelling to Ukraine!
Any donation made for our fundraising efforts will be hugely appreciated and have a measurable impact for those in need. Thank you for your generosity.
We are committed to supporting the Christchurch City Mission due to all of the good they do in the community.
