    Wow, what a day!!!

Saturday was absolutely awesome. I managed to complete the walk, starting at 8.30am and finishing up 30.5km later at Taieri Mouth. What an experience. I was even lucky enough to see a mature male pakake on the walk, halfway between Blackhead and Ocean View when I was walking along the beach.

The last 6-8km became a little difficult with sore feet and a sore hip, but knowing the finish line was in sight, I kept going with some encouraging toots from my welcoming party driving to the finish line along the way.

Thanks so much to those that gave us water along the walk - Robyn, Janice & the lovely couple just outside of Brighton.

And thank you to the NZ Sea Lion Trust and the others that came for the awesome wee welcome at the end! It was so wonderful to have that support and encouragement.

Of course, thanks to all of those that have donated. The page is staying up until the 30yr anniversary on 1/1/2024, so please share with you whanau and friends :-)

  • All go for tomorrow!

      8 December 2023

It is all go for tomorrow!!!

Despite a constantly changing forecast, it seems like tomorrow is still the day!! The weather is looking pretty much perfect (as long as the wind holds off).

I have decided to start a little later - I will be at the bottom corner of Corstophine park (Middleton Rd) around 8amish for an 8.30am set off (this hapū māmā needs her rest before a big hīkoi!).

Feel free to come along for all or part of the walk!

Remember to bring some water, a hat and sunblock - looks like it might get quite warm. Some snacks are probably a good idea too.

We’ll be stopping for a wee break every 5kms.

There are toilets at ocean view and Brighton if needed along the way.

Also, you will need to organise your own transport back to town, unless you want to walk all the way back again.

If you can’t make it for all or part of the walk, it would be great to see you at the end! I am hoping it’ll take around 6 hours, so we should be in Taieri Mouth around 2.30pm.

I will be making posts and videos throughout the walk, so if you can’t come out, stay tuned on the Facebook page!

Thanks so much to everyone for your donations and support for New Zealand Sea Lion Trust so far!
