The earthquake in Nepal is a major tragedy. For every $50 donated we will walk up and down Mt Victoria to raise $ for the Himalayan Trust.
Wellington
Help us to help those devastated by the earthquake in Nepal. On Sunday 17th May we will repeatedly walk from the Pirie St park (base camp) to the Mt Victoria look out and down again to raise funds for the Himalayan Trust Nepal Earthquake Response appeal to help the people of the Solukhumbu region of Nepal. For every $50 raised we will complete one ascent and descent of Mt Vic. We would like to acknowledge the backing of the Asia New Zealand Foundation (asianz.org.nz) in this pursuit.
While neither of us has been to Nepal before we feel a strong kinship with this place and look forward to travelling there one day. This is something small we can hopefully do for Nepal in the face of this unfathomable tragedy. The Himalayan Trust helps to continue the amazing work of Sir Edmund Hillary in the Everest region.
It's the final countdown! 15 May 2015
Not long to go now till the fundraising closes and the hiking begins! At the moment the tally is for 15 times up and down. Not bad! The track is a bit muddy after the recent deluge in Wellington but still ok. The second quake was such awful news. Your donations will be so helpful. Thank you for your support.
