The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary Ōtaki offers neglected and abused animals a safe haven, and a new chance at life.
Wellington
This year I am giving my birthday to the Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary in Otaki. Their main source of funding is their op shops, which have been closed during level 3 and 4 restrictions. They've had a rough few weeks, and they could use some extra support to get them through this time.
The Black Sheep Animal Sanctuary provides a refuge for abused, neglected, and mistreated animals, and especially former farm animals.
Their work includes:
- Animal rescue and rehabilitation, caring for abused, injured, and neglected non-human animals, especially farm animals.
- Rehoming animals, where possible, to loving forever homes.
- Offering a refuge where animals live in peace and security in the company of others of their kind.
- Teaching compassion, educating New Zealanders about animal rights and protection.
At their animal sanctuary in Ōtaki Forks, they care for around 150 rescued animals, including pigs, goats, sheep, roosters, geese, cows, horses, ducks, hedgehogs, guinea pigs, and rabbits. They have rehomed lambs, sheep, chickens, cows, dogs and socialised wild kittens to loving permanent homes.
They can always use support to maintain a high standard of care for the horses, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and other animals at the Sanctuary. Their main costs are food, vet bills, and creating safe and secure housing and enclosures.
Please consider helping me to help this amazing charity - the more support they receive, the more animals they are able to help.
I am an admirer of the work the sanctuary does and I want to help them out any way I can.
