I'm cutting out chicken for a cause! Donating all the money I'd spend on fried chicken to Kaibosh food rescue, and I'd love your support.
Wellington
Okay folks. If you know me, or have been following my attempts at homemade KFC during lockdown, you know how much I love fried chicken. I'm pretty sure it's one of the main food groups. However, after spending almost $200 on chicken in May, I've decided to set myself a challenge: No fried chicken for all of June.
It's not going to be easy, so I'm making myself accountable - all the money I would spend on chicken, I'll be donating to Kaibosh Food Rescue, who help charities and community groups in the Wellington region by rescuing good unused food and giving it to those in need. I'm also hoping you'll contribute too, so that I have no choice but to commit to this difficult task.
I would love if you felt compelled to support me in this challenge, and donated to Kaibosh!
A $20 donation means 29 meals to places like Wellington City Mission, Bellyfull, and local marae. You can see all the groups they donate to here - https://www.kaibosh.org.nz/receive-food/who-receives-food/
In my volunteer work for Kaibosh, I've seen the amazing stuff they do tackling food poverty/scarcity while reducing food waste. I'm hoping this fundraiser will help them give even more meals to those in need.
We made it 13 July 2020
Well - this update comes a bit late but I wanted to thank you all so much for your support! We raised $1210 for Kaibosh to continue doing their good work, that's really fantastic. You'll all be pleased to know (except those vegetarians who donated in solidarity with the cause) that I have enjoyed a few cheeky trips to the chicken shop since this challenge ended. Keep an eye out in your inboxes for an invitation to the celebration party! (and if you donated as a private donor but want to come, please let me know somehow as I don't have your details!)
