Well 2 down 1 to go! Kerikeri Half Marathon was a lot of fun, the weather was perfect and Kerikeri is a fun place. Loved the street party with all the different food and we stayed at an amazing bach on the Kerikeri Inlet. 2.04.21 for the run - slightly slower than I had hoped for but I am happy! Runner number 3 in the K2M starting at midday and starting to get excited!! We have a great crew involved and think it will be a lot of fun.

The next event is only 1 week away and I am starting to get excited! The 1st half of the Auckland Marathon went well so I know I am going to enjoy the Kerikeri Half! I will attempt my first run since the Marathon tonight to test the legs but all is good at the moment. As part of my fundraising I am adding people's names to my shirt that donate which the kids are loving!

First Event done yesterday AUCKLAND MARATHON - time 4 hours 44 minutes. I did walk for about 100m between 35-36kms but picked myself back up and was kept going thanks to the help of a lovely gentleman who talked me through the last 6-7kms. I am pretty happy with my achievement 18 months ago I struggled to run 10kms in Mount Manganui and would have roared with laughter at any suggestion that I would run a Marathon! Very emotional day and quite sore by the end!

Such an important run today for my confidence and if I didn't achieve the 25+km that I wanted I unsure if I would mentally be able to get through the Auckland Marathon but woohoo did 27km and feel great! Another big one next weekend 30+km and it is looking very achievable!

The next 3 weeks are vital to my training programme as I get up into the bigger kms and have to deal with my head - a constant battle, it just wants to give up! I have started to introduce the food required throughout the Marathon and making sure my stomach can handle it, so far so good! I have made a plan after talking to a lot of people that have already done a Marathon but my biggest fear is falling over because of lack of nutrients so I really want to get it right. It is getting close now and last week I was full of confidence after a good long run on Saturday so lets hope that continues and I still feel good next week!
