OLLIE THE-COCKATIEL'S EPIC KIWI ADVENTURE...

$5,858 of $25,000 goal
Given by 48 generous donors in over a year

Fundraising for HUHA (Helping You Help Animals) Charitable Trust

Cambridge, Waikato

I'm Ollie, a crippled Cockatiel, hand-raised from a young chick at Bird Rescue and Rehoming, Cambridge. Along with Hoomum and Hoo-Pop (two ageing Teletubbies), I'll be shaking my tail feathers as I walk, hike, bike, hitch, row, paddle, ferry, whizzboat, or catch a train to travel the length of NZ (over the next 18 months) to meet as many hoomans as I can! I'll be attempting to raise $25,000 for flaptabulous animal charity HUHANZ, while sharing a bird's-eye view of my epic Kiwi adventure on Facebook and Instagram. I hope my adventures will encourage flaptastic 'followers and supporters' to get off the couch, go walkies and explore their local area: whether it be a small bush or beach walk, river trail, forest track, park, or just camp outside for the night in the backyard! Of course I'll be working very hard to help hoomans part with their money, so we can raise 'bizquillions' for the good eggs at HUHANZ, and help all the birdiful animals in their care (especially the wonky ones like me). Big thankies for helping to 'share the love'... from your feathered friend Ollie The-Cockatiel.

Here I am on my epic Kiwi adventure  17 October 2024

Attempting to section-hike the length of New Zealand is hard work for a crippled cockatiel, but it's all for a good cause (raising $25,000 for animal charity, HUHANZ)! In the flat walks I ride shoulder-shotgun (in a safety vest and short tether). But in the hairy parts of the walk, I travel in my Celltei birdy pack which is then strapped securely on the back of Hoomum's big red backpack. I just have to cross my beak and claws that she doesn't fall backwards... eeekkkk 🧡
