Jade has cerebral palsy and needs the One Dollar Warriors to help her fulfil her dream of walking!
Nationwide
Hi Warriors,
I’d like to introduce you to a gorgeous 6 year old girl named Jade. Jade was born at just 28 weeks, and subsequently has a type of Cerebral Palsy called Spastic Diplegia. Having this makes the muscles in her legs tight and makes walking extremely painful and difficult, and means Jade needs to use a walking frame to get around. As Jade grows her legs are starting to tighten up even more and it’s beginning to affect the way her bones grow, meaning that in a few years she will probably be confined to a wheelchair. It also means that as an adult it’s unlikely Jade will be able to live independently.
It’s heartbreaking for Jade’s parents to see their daughters daily struggle with the pain in her legs, and her sadness at her inability to do the things that most kids take for granted; riding a bike, dancing and climbing on the jungle-gym.
Jade’s mum and dad have found a treatment available in St. Louis Children’s Hospital in America. The name of the treatment is Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) and Jade has been accepted to have the operation.
In 2013 a 2 year old girl from New Zealand went to the same treatment centre for the same operation. Doctors in New Zealand had predicted she would be wheelchair bound for life as they have done for Jade. Yet the operation has given that little girl the ability to run and ride her scooter unassisted. The news title after her operation was “Miracle op sets girl running”. We want the same for Jade.
By raising the $125,000, we can give Jade a new lease on life. Your dollar can free Jade from a life of pain and limitations. You can give Jade the freedom to run, jump, dance and play - and a future where she can live independently.
Jade will need up to two years of intensive physiotherapy post-op which is accounted for in the fundraising. This will fast track her ability to learn to walk properly and safely again.
Jade says she wants to be able to dance, walk and ride bikes like the other kids do. The only thing stopping her dream from being reality is money.
We are so excited to have the opportunity to give Jade a new lease on life!
Come on Warriors let’s make 6 year old Jades dreams come true.
