On the Street Exhibition

John Crawford is a talented professional photographer. He’s chosen a special project to showcase his work and support a cause dear to him.

Auckland

On the Street exhibition features the homeless people of downtown Auckland and highlights the daily challenges they face surviving on the streets, often right under our noses.

John chose to use his smartphone as his camera for this three-year project because it’s less intrusive. Each person was interviewed and so each photograph has a story attached.

The primary purpose of the exhibition is to raise funds to support the Homeless Service provided by the team at Auckland City Mission.

John hopes to make more people aware of problems faced by those living rough on the streets, and highlight the growing problem with numbers increasing year on year.

On the Street is at Gow Langsford Gallery, 26 Lorne Street, from 14-15 October.

Spark has created this page to receive donations from people who want to support the project and aren’t able to get along to the exhibition. Or for those who enjoy the exhibition and want to offer support to the work of Auckland City Mission.

Spark is supporting John in this project. John has worked with us for a number of years and we’re so impressed with the images he has captured using only his smartphone.
