Participating in Running for the Rescue Helicopter
Hawke's Bay
In 2019 my son Otis (he has Down Syndrome) and I raised $14k for Upsidedowns Education Trust by trying to run the Hawkes Bay Marathon in under 3 hours (only 4% of male marathon runners go sub 3).
If there was any year to raise money for a cause it's this year!
Hawkes Bay, Wairoa, and Gisborne have been devastated by cyclone Gabrielle. People have lost literally EVERYTHING! So, Otis and I are 'going big' again and we are aiming to raise $50k (the more the better!) for the Hawkes Bay Rescue Helicopter Trust.
The team at HBRHT are working 24hr shifts at the moment and they are doing incredible work saving lives here in our region.
I'll update everyone along the way via Instagram and Facebook (josephspayton). I'll post up my daily training runs and updates via video so everyone knows whats going on.
Get your hands in your pockets please. Hawkes Bay needs you.
Thank you.
Otis and Joe.
Mini Break - Week 2 of 5... 4 April 2023
A bit slow to update everyone from last week 😬. So it got to Thursday night (last week) and we didn’t have any donations come through and I was thinking jeepers cripers, it’s gone quiet! THEN, one super generous donor dropped $1000 in on Thursday night 🙏👊🤷🏼♂️. Not sure who that generous legend was, but THANK YOU!
Keep it coming please. 2.5 weeks and we start the training programme again.
Are you taking part in the 2023 Hawke's Bay Marathon and would like take your run to the next level?
