To raise awareness of the importance of Parkinson sufferers to be active as a way to push back against this challenging disease.
Waikato
As a combined group we are coming together to compete in the Tinman Triathlon.
We hope to raise awareness of the importance of Parkinson sufferers to be active as a way to push back against this challenging disease.
We also aim to raise funds to support the Waikato branch of Parkinson's NZ.
We welcome your support on the day - we will be wearing the red T-shirts of Parkinson's NZ. The triathlon is at Mount Maunganui, Tauranga on Sunday the 19th November.
I am involved because my brother has Parkinson's. He has undertaken the challenge of training and preparing to compete in this triathlon, as a way of keeping himself active. This, with Parkinson's, is no mean feat! The benefits to his health have become obvious as he has become progressively fitter and stronger.
His determination has inspired many of us, his relatives and friends, to join him and compete in the triathlon, either indiviudally or in teams.
The idea is to raise awareness of the importance of the people living with Parkinson's to be active and push back against this condition.
